FAQs

Am I too old/out of shape for Parkour?

This is one of our most commonly asked questions, and boy oh boy, do I have some inspirational people to introduce you too. Our oldest clients are 59 years old, and we recognize that not everybody has been able to maintain a strong mobile body through the years. We have developed some engaging techniques to meet you where you are, and help you enjoy functional and playful movement.

What does a student learn at Atlanta Parkour

Well for one, Parkour. But aside from Parkour, we focus on the students ability to critically think and apply foundational information to solve complicated problems. This is no understatement, our puzzles are hard. By not giving the students the answer right away, we provide a place for them to exercise their own intuitions. This creates an engaging environment that proves incredibly conducive for learning. These days, we find that learning is sometimes mixed up with memorization and regurgitation, at Atlanta Parkour, students encounter learning as an active skill that demands participation.

Is Parkour safe?

We are confident that Parkour will prove safer for you or your student than most other sports. That being said, no, Parkour isn’t inherently safe. Parkour actively seeks out situations that demand skill and focus to navigate risky situations. Parkour has a sense of danger, but so does every fun activity. Because of this, the more focus and discipline you approach it with, the more fun you will have.

Unlike other sports, in Parkour, you can assess each each situation thoroughly. On a football or soccer field, you can’t stop when someone is running at you and decide “Actually I don’t want to take this risk”. In Parkour, you can always analyze a challenge before attempting it. Young people love danger, and that is precisely what makes Atlanta Parkour important. We have been training Parkour for a very long time, and we can recognize bad or unsafe habits very well. We have also developed a curriculum that has guided many athletes to very advanced areas of Parkour without ever sustaining a substantial injury. That being said, some of our clients have no intention of raising the risk past a certain level, and we create a space for them to progress strength, mobility, and fluidity in movement. Come try a class, and we are confident that you will find our methods safe and comprehensive.
